Coming to the end of PT ...

Next week will be my 6th & final week of physical therapy. We can't see any improvement, but hopefully it is slowing down the progression of the ataxia (SCA). I have PT homework to do, so will try to remain faithful at these balance & coordination exercises. I will miss my therapist's lower leg massage rub-downs that I have been spoiled with at the end of each of my PT sessions.

I do struggle with feeling totally unmotivated & with bursting into fits of crying for inexplicable reason, but the prayer of dear friends & St. John's Wort supplements seem to be helpful. Thank you for your continued prayer for me.

Dear Phoebe,
I'm sorry to hear that the PT didn't seem to help. Did your insurance not cover any more sessions? Maybe you can have your therapist teach your husband how to do your leg massages after she is gone.

I can understand about the weeping. I'm doing a lot of it these days too. I remember how frustrating it was to not be able to walk when I had the immune disease that attacked my joints. I also know how hard it is to stay positive in the midst of pain and illness. I read a lot of Psalms during that time. I know the Lord is able to strengthen you and will bring you through all these struggles victoriously. Keep your eyes focused on Him.

I've been posting a little on a friend's blog.

Stay strong in the Lord. His power is made perfect in our weakness. I'm praying for you.

Good suggestion Susan. It would be good if your husband could learn to do it. Crying times have got to be understandable and no doubt normal for what you've been going through. May the Lord give grace.

Insurance is not the issue here; 4-8 weeks was the therapist's plan. The PT results should have been apparent after the 1st couple weeks. My therapist recently told me that she has done everything she knows to do, so now it is up to me to continue in my "homework."

There really is not much to teach my husband; he can do it quite nicely. But by the time he comes home from a hard day of work, does the house chores I am unable to do, showers, & falls into bed exhausted, I am the one who feels I owe him a massage. ;)

Thanks so much for your continued interest & intercession!
